Ford AXODE transmission

AXODE/AX4S

Was used 1991-up in Taurus, Sable, Continental and Windstar. There were MANY variations over the years and MANY parts do NOT interchange from year to year or model to model.

This is a computer controlled front wheel drive overdrive transmission.

Bottom cooler line is the cooler return line.
(Note: there is supposedly an internal Ford engineering bulletin that states as of 9-9-1999 changes to the pump were made to cause the TOP cooler line to become the cooler return line.)

Band adjustments:
1-2 = not adjustable
Overdrive = not adjustable

Gear Ratios:
2.77:1 1st gear
1.54:1 2nd gear
1.00:1 3rd gear
0.69:1 4th gear
2.263:1 reverse
